Mackenzie - 2 months

Wow can't believe we are past the two month mark already!! Time is going by so quickly. We went to the doc last Monday (she was 9 wks) for her 2 month check up and shots. We have some concerns that she may have a lazy eye - Tricia has one too but not this bad - but other than that she is doing great! 11 lbs 4 oz and 22 in long. I can't remember her head circumference but I think either last time or this time they measured wrong because that went almost straight up on the chart that he showed me! She got one oral shot and 3 shots in her little thighs, I cried a bit but she got over it quickly. She was really fussy the next few days though and slept a lot. Some things to remember:

- This past week or so you have started to smile a lot
- You like to be held a lot which is way different then your sister
- I am still doing some breast milk and some formula. This may be ending soon though because being back to work, caring for a toddler and newborn by myself most nights and on the weekends a lot, and everything else I'm quickly getting overwhelmed and finding time passes so quickly I don't get a chance to pump.
- You are still sleeping in your rock n play by our bed. May attempt to move you to your crib at 3 months though. I'm thinking you may end up being a stomach sleeper.
- Your sister adores you :) I know this may not always be the case
- You are eating 4-5 oz at a time between 3-4 hours between your feedings.
- You have a pretty bad bewitching time between 6-8 at night where if you aren't eating you aren't really happy but sometimes you don't want the bottle so you are just unhappy and crying.
- You love to lay on my chest and sleep and sometimes I just let you.

Baby Food and Some Updates

A few weeks ago I decided to try making my own baby food. I went to the store and bought some fresh green beans, carrots, pears, peaches and apples.

I messed the peaches up but the rest turned out fairly well! I put them in my ice cube trays, froze them, and popped them in to a freezer bag. Here is what I got:

Pears - cost $2.82, 14 servings, .20 per serving
Apples - cost $2.44, 9 servings, .27 per serving
Grean beans - cost $2.99, 12 servings, .25 per serving
Carrots - cost $1.19, 14 servings, .09 per serving

Maybe its just a bad time of the year to be doing this but I thought the cost would be more in teh range of what I got for the carrots. Not sure what happened. But I was happy to do it. Not sure if I will be doing anymore batches though. Baby is on to second foods now and that involves mixing a lot of foods and stuff. It seems like someone always has the Gerber two pack tubs on sale for $1. So I might just go with those.

Baby is doing very well though! Getting so big. She is in 6- 9 month clothing right now. Mostly for length than anything. She has the tiniest feet I've ever seen though. I feel like they haven't grown at all since she was 3 mo old! They are so little, compared to other babies around her age. I got some sandals that are so cute that are 6-12 mo and she can't even close to fit in them!

We start swim lessons at the YMCA on Saturday. It's every Sat for 7 weeks from 9-9:30 am. I'm ready to see her in her two cute little bathing suits. I will have to be sure to come back and post some pics of it. There is a girl here at work that is signed up with her son too so I'm excited to have someone in the class with me. A little nervous though because one I don't want to be in a bathing suit but two the class is for up to 36 months. I know there are 4 other people in the class besides us two so I'm hoping they are babies still like our little ones. I can't imagine a 3 year old doing the same things as an 8 month old. We will just have to see!

Ben's new job is going ok. It's really hard having him out of town all week. The weekends are nice to spend together but I still feel like I get no break most of the time. He is always running around and leaving the house to do something so then I have the baby still. I feel like screaming at him that weekends are supposed to be my break from doing it all week. Oh well. I love her to pieces but we all need a break once in a while.

My job is going ok. I was hoping for a promotion but didn't get one. Although PLENTY of other people did. Including 3 people in my department. I guess it had to do with who was going to make the least "noise" about not getting theirs and they said because I got one last year. Well last year was just to bring me where I should be, not because of a promotion. So I asked if they would give me my title change since they say my salary is in the range already and I'm really doing the job already. It's been a couple weeks and they still haven't told me. I'm not happy about it at all. I want to bug my boss more about it but I don't want to make her mad. I will probably wait until next week and ask again. i just don't know what's so hard about it- I'm just asking for a title change that fits my job anyways!

I also found out I am going to have to get another surgery. Apparently I have some scar tissue from when I had my D&C after my delivery for retained product. I've read that its common but it scares me to think maybe it will come back? Maybe I won't be able to have more kids? I'm pretty nervous about it. Plus I have to go under again and I really am just over having surgeries. I'm praying that this is the last one and that everything will be ok after this.

One last thing  -we got a new TV with our tax returns. I love it! And we are also waiting on our new sectional for the living room - found out today it won't be delivered until March 14th :( I'm not happy at all about it! We were told February. I will have to put pics of the new stuff up too soon!

I'm home!

Well I've been home for a few weeks now, I've just been really busy! The trip went really well, minus the traveling! It was a nightmare - 4 out of 4 flight delays and my exhaust fell off my car on the way home from the airport! I

It was really hot and humid while we were there but it was beautiful. We were just a few blocks from the Alamo so that was neat to go down and visit that. The Riverwalk was just below the hotel and had plenty to choose from for restaurants and shopping so we had a good time exploring that. We had dinner Wednesday night with one of the people from Cardinal who we work very close with and all of our sellers. Thursday night we had dinner with all of our sellers at The Fig Tree which was along the Riverwalk. It was wonderful! I tried foie gras for the first time - YUCK! But at least I tried it. So many good memories form that night. We all got pretty drunk and topped dinner off with a flaming desert. And we topped the night off with a night cap shot - Sex on the Beach! See my pictures on facebook or myspace from the trip!

In other news, I'm still around 20 lbs for my weight loss but I haven't really been working on it all that much. I've just kind of been slacking and eating whatever. I need to get back on board though because I would like to lose another 10-15. But at least I'm staying the same and not gaining.

I went to Melanie's first doctors appt with her last week on Weds. She is too funny! She was so scared about everything! But she got through it and I think she is much better now that she has seen the doctor. Next Monday is her first ultrasound too and since i'm off I get to go with her so I'm super excited for that. I know this sounds mean but I hope we are the only two who are going.I think that would be a fun thing for me and her to share together. But we will see. I know her mom is not able to make it but she did invite Liz. I don't know if she will have the day off but she has been having a lot of Mondays off lately so maybe.

Ben is gone this weekend at the farm. All four of the boys (Ben, Brian, Kyle and Rob) went down to Ben's grandpa's farm - the one we were at for fourth of July. I'm glad they were able to pull it together because I know they have been wanting to get down there for a while together. So me and Melanie hung out last night. We had a good time - went to dinner and then to the mall to look at the Motherhood store that has maternity clothes in it. She just wanted to look around to see what they had. She doesn't need anything quite yet but she does feel like she is busting out of the clothes she has. She told me last night that she really finally "feels" pregnant and not just has a slight pouch. I'm just working on cleaning around the house though and doing laundry while Ben is gone. I'm off tomorrow and Tuesday since I still get a day off from work becuase of my 4 ten's so it should be interesting. So this week at work should fly and then Friday is my birthday so I'm excited for that! I don't know what we are going to do but I want to at least go to dinner then maybe everyone can just come back here to hang out afterwards.

We did find out that Ben's mom, Sue, will be coming home the first week of Novemeber. That's what she says now but we will see when the time comes. I do think she will come back but I just don't know how everything will work. I think she will be fine if she gets a job and gets into a routine and just doens't sit around the house all day. I am worried though because she will be pretty much staying with us until the house sells in Arizona and what if me and Ben want to try to start having a abby. Not sure how possible that will be with her here. I know we can find ways but still. It's just not as simple. But who knows when that will be, I was hoping for the end of this year/beginning of next year but we will see! :)

Congrats Melanie and Brian!

They found out last night that they are pregnant with their first baby - exactly one week after their 5 year anniversary. Congrats to them!! Here is a pic from Saturday (their anniversary party). Funny that she was pregnant and she didn't even know it yet!

Welcome Trent Robert!

Our friends Robert and Rachelle welcomed their son, Trent Robert, on March 27th at 1:30 am. 7lbs 13 oz and 20 in long! He's absolutely wonderful! Rachelle was induced Thursday morning (March 26) - she dialated well throughout the night. But the baby was turned the incorrect way and she tried for 2 hours to push him out but it just didn't work. So she ended up having a c-section. Everyone is doing well :) Here are a few pictures from that night!

Right after he was born Rob brought him out

Too cute!

Proud daddy
Not too much else new going on in our world. Ben is still looking for a job...but as bad as the job market is right now I'm starting to get worried! Next weekend we have a baby shower to go to for Wayne and Chrissy. Still waiting for summer to appear!
